Ok so I know he cannot be put on trial for murder again due to double jeopardy. Can they reduce the charge to aggravated assault? Is this still double jeopardy? It is not the same crime. Let me know what you think.

No, they cannot charge him with anything that would be a "lesser included offense"..

As long as the same (or fewer) facts need to be proven for the lesser charge, it is prohibited.

Doesn't meet the definition of aggrevated assault as the victims both died. The only avenue left is a civil rights violation case of the victims through the feds, much like the KKK murders of the 60's. Wouldn't happen in this case though because the victims were not murdered due to race, but out of anger.

It's still double jeopardy because they are in fact talking about the same crime. The same victims. The same evidence. The same details.

Putting new charges on it doesn't legally make it a new crime.

That would still be double jeopardy. If the cops had not lied on the stand and tampered with evidence, OJ would have been convicted.

Had the LA DA's office been smart, and not arrogant, they would have only charged him with one murder in case their was a problem with the trial. Then if he got lucky or they screwed up in a trial for the murder of his ex-wife, they could have tried him for the murder of Ron Goldman and put together a stronger case.

they cannot bring any charges related to that case against him. The law protects him from getting charged with anything related to the case

If there's any legal way to prosecute him again they would have done it long ago. But they did sue him in civil court and he was found liable for deaths of those people.
