OMG
Did you do any research at all before buying these poor bettas????????
You CAN'T put male/female or for that matter male/male
together in one tank
male/female only if you're trying to breed them, and for that you need to do a hell of a lot of research before you even consider it

Take out the female or the male right away into a seperate tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He will kill her, I just hope he hasnt hurt her yet

Hope that helps
Good luck and do some research in the future before you buy any fish

I am completely sure of two things. One: The male is trying to kill the female. Two: You don't know anything about Bettas! Don't you know that you should never put two bettas in one tank, next to each other in seperate tamks, or in a mirror-walled tank! They are sometimes called the Japenese Fighting Fish because people would put them in a tank and bet on which one kills the other one! Then it became illegal because it was animal abuse. Get those Bettas in seperate tanks right away!

Bettas will fight with other bettas no matter what sex they are, with the exception of a group of females in a large tank.

If the male has formed a bubble nest somewhere in their bowl/tank, he may be trying to mate with her.

Even if the male is trying to mate with the female, after courtship, the male might still try to kill the female. It's a good idea to remove the female and place her in a different bowl/tank so the male can "guard his brood," and the female won't be attacked by the male. :)

I doubt you're very interesting having little baby bettas, though. \=]

Bettas are generally kept alone unless you are very experienced with this species of fish.

Simply put, it would be a good idea to separate them as soon as possible.

Evelyn is right. You can't house Betta's together unless they are females and they need to be in a group of 3 or more to lessen the aggression. You only house males and females in the same tank if you are breeding them. The male will make a bubble nest and then wrap himself around her to squeeze the eggs out of the female. But they must be conditioned properly or one or both of your Betta's could be killed. It's more to keeping Betta's than placing them in bowl and tank. You need to seperate them as soon as possible!

If you have another tank, quickly catch the female and place her in it. Are you trying to breed them? If so, wait until the male makes a bubble nest before you put the female in. After a while, the female will scatter the eggs. After she does this, you should take hour out. The male fertilize the eggs and will take them (one by one) in his mouth and spit them into the bubble nest. He'll guard them 24 / 7 until they hatch. After they hatch, remove the male and feed them brine shimp and fry food.
