Whatever, where I live, nobody is emo so I really could care less.
ps - I don't believe they are "being them selves" (learn to spell). I truely believe that no human being naturally wants to be emo, whatever that may entail (usually something depressing).
My philosophy is that they may actually like that music, and thusly they feel like they have to dress, act, etc., a certain way to fit in with the rest of the emo kids.
Point: they are all following the crowd, even though they think they are being "original" or "true to themselves". They are not.

I would say because the guys emasculate themselves by wearing womens jeans and eyeliner.
However, true emo is not what people think - It originally was very closely related to/sounding like Punk.
Check out the source I list for what is pretty much definitive of true emo.

Ok there we go again....
1. They Dress like effeminate little tossers (for the guy's).
2. They don't ever look you in the eye, even if they are talking to you, witch is a massively disrespectful.
3. They pride them selves on their lack of self esteem and general weakness and are a pathetic examples of people.
4. Also they think they are sooo in-tune with their emotions and the pain in the world and nobody else understands, Wake The **** Up, we all understand we just don't go ******* pissing and moaning about it, we suck it up and get the **** on with it, and you think your superior because your to weak to do this..... ****..... so ******* angry now....
There was going to be more but thinking little emo losers got me to freaking angry..... I'm out.....

Some of them creep me out to no end. Seriously.
Others are just... they don't act like anything's good in the world. It's depressing to be around them. Whenever I am, they talk about death, depression, cutting, and emo bands.
Mostly I don't like them because they whine a lot. Like I said, to them, nothing's good in the world. I think that most of them need to get out and breathe some fresh air, get off their black clothes and wear a happier color that they haven't worn since the stone age, and listen to some mellow music instead of what they do listen to.

I really am not sure why people have things against emo kids.
Ill admit it, my brother and other people label me emo. Im not ashamed of it. Its just another label. Only people dont think of it as that, they hate "emo people" much more than other labels....i have no ideo why. Usually people think that "emo's" just want attention and sh*t but they are just being themselves..and "emo" is not the definition of being depressed/cutting/hating life. And its not...

I hate emo kids because they're a whiny bunch of neo-narcissists who seem to have gotten the false notion into their heads that they're somehow deeper that everbody else. There is a predisposition among them that life is pain, blah blah blah...
And emo music pisses me off way to much, just singing on and on about being heartbroken and how they're supposedly different. Well they're not.
Somebody who's actually different would have more of a broad taste in music. *Cough* ME! *Cough*
For example, I listen to:
Metal,
Goth Rock,
Goa,
Techno,
Deathrock,
Industrial,
Darkwave,
Classic Rock,
New Wave,
Punk,
Irish Rebel Music,
Hard Rock,
Terrorcore,
Speedcore,
Jazz,
Progressive Rock,
Etc...
There, that's actually a varied list. As opposed to someone who'd say the different things they listen to are Emo, Alternative, Indie, blah blah blah... Those aren't really different.
Oh and by the way, now you have done something to me by wasting the time it took to read your question. So now according to your logic, it's completely acceptable for me to hate you.

i dont hate "emo kids"..
i hate classifications.. and trends.. and fads...
agh!.. fads piss me off the most!!
i hate the fact that everyone looks the same these days..
theres nothing defining about anyone..
guys and girls wear the same makeup, nail polish, and clothes!..
it can get a bit confusing..
and to top everything off..
i hate the fact that self harm has become mainstream..
it seems like people beat up themselves mentally and physically these days to help deal with their problems.. its sad..
and i can say this because i used to be one of those depressed kids who self harmed.. but it wasnt because i saw someone else do it.. and it was much before the generalization "emo"...
sorry for the long answer..
i'm quite ranty

emo really isnt a thing anymore.
it used to a be just some kids who couldn really cope with everything around them and took it all out on themselves. and eventually a few kids got out of hand and started rising suspicions for other "cliques", parents, ect ect.
now its just a style.
and people automatically assume that all "emo dudes" are gay pansies who spane their days crying like little wosses.
(which they are not)
and that chicks are just lost lonely little souls that are ****** up.
society is just horrible in a whole.
