Unknown Subject. They do not wnat to call the bad person suspect because Mandy Pankin's character feels it will cloud the teams thinking.

It's short for "unknown subject", referring to the suspect du jour of the story. I'm certain that it's an actual term used by FBI profilers/investigators. It was also the title of an AWESOME crime drama that aired on NBC years ago. The premise was exactly the same as that of CM, but could more rightfully be considered the forerunner of CSI and its spinoffs. Unfortunately, it only aired for one season. Bummer. And don't feel dumb!

I have been watching this show since the first season. I am hooked now and unable to change change the channel. LOL. I am a home body more these days. I do feel a bit dumb not knowing the answer to this question. That was also going to be my question I am watching it right now on ION TV. Usually a marathon. New shows will be on CBS at 9:00 / 8:00 central on Wednesday nights followed by Stalked, also a very good show. CM still beats them all. Try to remember to see the new shows on Wednesday nights on ION TV. Peace all.

If I hear that term one more time, I am going to throw up. My girlfriend watches the show and I cannot be in the same room when it is on. We tracked how many times they said it, and it was 73 times. Just awful.
