I don't mean to be rude, but this question must get asked in this forum three times a week. When you type in a question, Yahoo shows similar questions -- why don't you look at those answers?

Why is this question asked? What possible value can this accrue to the asker? Especially when we get answers like "Fur Elise, it's pretty" and 10 different folks who love either Pachelbel's Canon or Vivaldi's 4 seasons. There is so much more out there than these potboilers. Get out and LISTEN, people.

And when are people going to learn the difference between a "song" and a purely instrumental piece? A SONG IS SOMETHING THAT IS SUNG. Hence, the word "song". You can't call Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" a song. Or Mozart's 40th Symphony. Maybe, just maybe, I'll let you off the hook if you call "O Fortuna" or "Lacrymosa" a song.

Rant finished.

This week, my favorite piece is Chopin's c# minor Scherzo.
Next week, it'll be something else.

First of all, dont put classical and song in the same sentence. Ever. And classical or operatic composition should never be called a song, for it is not one. You'll learn if you just read up and study.

That's a really difficult question to ask. There are SO many classical pieces out there. In my case, my favorite of all time for me is Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, but that may change, for all I know, maybe next week!

Then there have been so many current(though not current once they arent my favorite anymore) favorites I have had, just to name a few, God Save the King- Paganini; Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento- Paganini; I Palpiti- Paganini(if you haven't sene yet, I like Paganini); Waltz in C# Minor- Chopin; Pavane Pour a Infante Defunte- Ravel; Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso- Saint-Saens; Carmen Fantasy- Waxman arrangement; 1812 Overture- Tchaikovsky; Valse Scherzo- Tchiakovsky, and so many more! Answerers here who have pointed out a specific, definite favorite most likely haven't heard much classical music, beacuse in most cases, it is impossible the have just one absolute favorite.

I think I agree with glinzek. we can not say that "the one" is the most favorite because there are very huge collections of classical pieces out there.

Like me, i do like Cannon in D by Pachabel but sometimes, I do not know why, I do prefer the String Version one than the Piano Version one and somedays later, it swap.

so, to answer the Question, some of my favorite pieces that being thought now are
Cannon in D, Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata, March of the Dwarf from the Magic Flute by Mozart, Nocturne E-flat by Chopin, Revolutionary Etude by Chopin.

ok that's all.

I must agree with Glinzek. There are just so many excellent works out there that it is impossible to limit a choice to just one piece of music. Jump in and sample it all !!!

Some of mine are: Elgar's Symphony #1 in Ab , Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro" from Gianni Schicchi , Elgar's Enigma Variations, Saint Saen's Symphony #3(Organ) , Samuel Barber's Symphonies 1 & 2 , Beethoven's Piano Concerto #5, and Liszt's Les Preludes. The list could go on and on!

Ask me again in a day or two and the list would probably be somewhat different. It depends on what I've recently listened to and my mood. The great thing about classical music is its variety and ability to satisfy your taste at the moment.

Check out some of these and have fun exploring.

Yeah, I feel like we hear way too many common answers of peoples favorites, just get out there and listen to as much of it as you can!!! That is okay if people like those common pieces that are always brought up, but go out there and listen to something new. I think everyone will be surprised by all of the different sounds and other beautiful pieces out there.
Well to answer your question, my favorite composer is Tchaikovsky and I love his March Slav, it is so cool how deep and melodic the cellos and basses start out the piece. I really enjoy symphony music and all of his pieces.
I love many other composers and pieces out there as well. I listen to a lot of classical music and I learn so much from it all.

If she likes her music - a thank you to maintain a existence via The Fray there is many songs that she could sing listed, i'm hoping this helped and good success interior the competition!

My favorite "classical song" is Le Sacre du Printemps.

That tells you nothing however. I'm willing to bet you can't listen to it. It's way too modern for most, having been composed in 1913.

Um, song or piece? Not going to rant, have no fear, it's been done already. This is an impossible question to answer, there is way too much variety to choose from. I often fall in love with pieces I've played myself. Right now I love Sibelius' first symphony to death, insanely difficult for my instrument, but very rewarding.
