If it is, why does the new joints chief of staff say that no amount of US troops or surges, can win the war in Iraq. He said that it has to be a politial solution & with the Iraqi Sunnis resigning from the Iraq Govt. there will never be a political solution. Get it?!?! Just more & more of a civil war that the US military can't win.

There is very good news! Troop deaths are lowest in 8 months.

Not that liberals care, they want more deaths just so they can use the numbers against Republicans.

It's worth reading the entire report by the two journalists -- not just the spin on certain media outlets.

"Working" to them means some stability in some outlying provinces -- ignoring the fact that this stability was obtained by arming Sunni militia in direct contradiction of what the Iraqi parliament authorized.

And "working" seems to ignore the fact that the largest Sunni power block just walked out of the parliament.

The stated purpose of the Surge was to give the Iraqi parliament the breathing room it need to resolve it's political differences.

Which means, that the Surge is "working" to create stability in Iraq the way we created stability in Saddam's regime -- Saddam's regime was absolutely stable when we were done -- gone, but stable.

Ya bush is trying to use what has always worked in CONVENTIONAL WAR though it is working some. Hopefully its working or we just drove them underground. Don't rely on one source for your news. We need more surgical strike forces like special forces to get the job done. We need to secure iraqi borders to stop supplies from getting in for the insurgents.

Oh yes ... I was listening to some idiot on (I think) ABC 'news' radio who was claiming that there is progress in Iraq because "housing prices are down" !!!

I doubt if you had changed his mouth with his a**, it would have been any different or he would have even noticed.

yep! be ready for the mantra..."six more months, six more months", watch for a separation of mission from victory. watch for our presence in Iraq for "a generation". watch for U.S. deaths declining, Iraqi deaths accelerating.
