You should never forget about the past or history will repeat itself. Just remember in 1993 the Trade Center was attacked and we thought that it was over and nothing like that would ever happen again at least we did not try to make sure nothing like that happened again. I was in fifth grade when it happened. My school chose not to tell us because of the younger kids. I knew something was wrong because we had a half day. Both my mom and my sister took me out of school before dismisal. My first thought was that I did not get a chance to eat lunch. Imagine my shock when i came home from school and saw the towers falling. Both my mom and my sister did not say anything because they thought I already knew. My dad even came home from work early. He was so upset because my other sister was on the bus. They could not pick her up early in time. He was worried that something could happen here and she was not home. My oldest sister, the one that came with my mom, was messaging my mom in the middle of class. She left school as soon as my mom told her what was happening.
Before that, I never heard the word terrorist and now I can't get through a day without hearing it. I did not know anyone in any of the areas that were struck. I think my mom did or at least she knew people that worked in the areas. As far as I know, they turned out okay.
My mom was always saying how lucky this generation. She had to deal with so much tragedy. She was born in 1955 if that helps. All I lived through or at least could remember was 9/11 and not to sound crazy, but my mom said that it did not effect my generation at all. She sai that there are kids my age that act as if nothing had happened and are even more selfish then ever. I do not know if that is true. All I know is the victoms of this tragedy probaby would like us to live our lives, but not forget them.

Tragic as it may seem you need to get past 9/11 to be able to approach life without pain or fear. Take the lessons of 9/11 and move on to make your life and others better.

yes, it was very tragic. my uncle's b-day is 9/11. think how he feels every year. anyway, those who lost love ones in 9/11 will probably never get over it. there is a huge void in their life due to this event.

the economy was already in a slump in the sector I worked in, 9/11 was the nail in the coffin.
that was the extent of my personal connection to the tragedy and no I still haven't recovered.

No I won't. I lost friends and the ones that weren't at the office that morning are no better off for surviving. One of them hung herself (survivor guilt) and the other moved to maine and hasn't spoken to anyone in 4 years, literally quit talking. Another friend of mine fed hot meals to the workers on scene and died in 6 weeks of "Lou Gehrigs's disease" - it never takes you out that fast - he died because of what he was exposed after the buildings went down. It was horrible and I will never forget. I hope no one ever forgets it.

For me, it's not forgotten or any less tragic, but I don't live in the past. And I don't celebrate "death days" and "tragedy anniversaries". I can remember just fine on my own.

It will probably live in my memory forever!!!
As it should!!! Along with Hurricane Katrina!!
So will the reactions of people, the govenment and this aweful predicament we are in overseas.
It reminds me of my grandfather and how he described WW2, the country afterwards, and the great depression. It is just not a very joyful time in our history!!!
But we always get through!!
Cheers, & good luck!

I'm over it.
I'm sad for the families who lost loved ones. That sucks for anyone. And yes, it was a tragic event. But the media needs to stop dwelling on it, and they and everyone else needs to stop profiting from these people's pain.
