Some sperm whales have scars from the suckers of giant squid, so we know that the sperm whale would win. There's a great display in the American Museum of Natural History in NYC that has a sperm whale/giant squid fight. Most little kids freak out when they see it!

Sperm whales eat giant squid. It's a favorite food item. Huge pieces of squid were found in their stomachs back in the whaling days. They also described whales with sucker scars on their skin as big as dinner plates.

Firstly why would they get in a fight they don't see each other as a food staple. Remember whales can weight up too 200 tonnes, giant squids have been caught and found that weigh considerably less than that up to 1 tonne. I think you may have been misled by myths, legends and a few movies as well.

The whale. Sperm whales eat giant squid. They've been seen with the huge scars of the suckers on their bodies and the indigestible beaks of giant squid have been found inside them.

The squid if it was a blue whale or any of the whales that have no teeth but just strain plankton. Now with a killer orca, that's a different story.

Depends which whale.
The giant blue whale wouldn't stand a chance I think due to lack of teeth.
The Orca would absolutely DOMINATE the squid with its rack of pearly whites.
