With all the problems with illegal immigration why isn't Mexico our 51st state? I mean they have great vacation hotspots like cancun and a lot more which means a lot of income. Also they have a lot of untapped oil in Mexico. Anyways doesn't it make sense?

Why didn't I think of that? I think its brilliant! It would be easy to conquer them because they don't have a respectable military due to the fact that all of the able body men are here mowing our lawns. The question I have gnawing at me is would they unimmigrate back to mexico or would the countries south of mexico just immigrate illegally into our new fifty-first state? When will the madness end!?

Because we dont want that waste dump of a country to suck even more of our tax money out of our pockets. We have more untapped oil in Utah, Texas and Alaska than all of the middle east. What makes you think the libs will let is drill down there either.

Better yet, why not have Mexico make the United States their 32nd state ? They owned a big part of the US until Polk's war of 1845. Habla Espanol ?

For the same reason that Puerto Rico isn't a state. The people of the land to be granted statehood have a say in the matter.

Well, for one thing, they would have to petition to become a state--we don't get to MAKE anybody into a state (unless you're advocating a military invasion)--and then congress would have to accept (which they won't). So it's kind of a moot question.

Yea, since we're so good at nation building, like Iraq let's build another crappy nation and spend another 2 trillion dollars on it.

mainly because that would tip the economic stability so far over (think of all the poverty over there; taxpayers would have to pay to help them, and most would be uniwlling)

even if we could, mexicans wouldn't want it. they have this sort of 'mexican pride' thing going on (makes you kinda wonder why they're all rushing over here, huh?)

the same reason Puerto Rico is still a territory: it would make our flag symetrically unattractive
