So there’s this young couple. The girl who is 21’s name is Amy and the guy who’s 23 is named Paul. They’re in a great relationship and have been for 4 years and love each other so much. Paul receives the news that his father has died in the war. He is devastated, and decides that to honor his father he will join the army. Amy is totally against war, and is super upset about this. Paul joins the army, and after about a month he is killed in battle. Then a week later, Amy finds out she’s pregnant. She has to go through a battle herself, being pregnant without a man in her life. During her pregnancy, she meets a man who was wounded in the same battle as Paul and they become close. The man, let’s call him Brad, tells Amy what Paul’s final days were like. Brad tells Amy that Paul was even going to ask her to marry him.

What do you think of it? What should happen next?

I think it's pretty ordinary. Been done many times before. Whatever you want to happen next, do it. Pax -C

**** Be careful not to preach. The story will ring true if both sides of the issue are fairly represented.

Brad marries Amy. They have a difficult but happy life. Amy has a complete meltdown when Paul Juniors interest in his bio dad, causes him to become a soldier. Amy blames much of this on Brads 'damn' war stories.

The big break occurs when Amy calls Paul Jr a 'baby killer' and he replies he's "glad his real father didn't live to see what a weak whining pacifist she's become."

**** That should keep everyone reading.

How about this?

After returning to full health, Brad let's Amy stay with him because she has nowhere else to go. Amy agrees and stays with Paul until the baby is delivered. Over the next several months, Amy grows a liking to Brad until she finds out about her new girlfriend. We'll call her Emily. After a few months with the baby at Brad's house, Amy decides that she's stable enough to go live on her own and decides that if she can't have her first or most second loved man, she has to find the third. So Amy leaves to her hometown where she catches up with her old friends while Brad leaves to live in New York with Emily, who is apparently super rich. Amy discovers that she has to go after Brad before it's too late. She doesn't want to lost a loved one again. Amy travels out to New York where she finds Brad and tells him how she feels about him. This is a hard choice for Brad, so he tells her that he needs time to think about it. Brad thinks it over and discovers that Emily is cheating on him. After that, he leaves to live with Amy in her hometown where they live a happy life.

Long and complicated. I know. But you can change it a bit if you don't like a few details of it.

Sounds like a great idea! Can I offer some suggestions?

Maybe the parts with Brad could be told in a flashback, like he's telling a long story. That would be deep, and a good addition to the plot.

You're going to be doing a bit of research on this one. Research on the army, research on war, research on pregnancy symptoms, research on the setting. But when you get past "research," I think you'll have a fun story to write.

You'll have to be able to pull a story like this off, though. You need to write it in an organized way, so no one gets confused about what's going on. I think you can do it. =)

I think that Brad could offer to help Amy raise her child. Or Amy could sink into depression after talking with Brad. She might even lose the child.

I don't know, it's your story, but good luck!!

Thanks for my new movie script!

I do LOVE this idea of a story. Maybe Paul was thinking of going AWOL just to see Amy one last time. Or maybe the ghost of Paul appears and commands Brad to Git-R-Done.

Even better, Paul is not killed, but in a terrible coma. The doctors say he could be in there for life. So she dates and marries Bard. Three years later, Paul awakens from the coma. I think I got this off a Family Guy episode, but it's still good

Brad offers to help take care of the baby..they get in a serious relationship...but Brad is abusive to the baby...and Amy finds different things happening horribly to her baby...poison in her food..different things..she confronts Brad about it and he says he has no idea whats happening to her...Amy has to dig deep into Brads past and stuff because she knows its him hurting her baby....and in the end it turns out Brad hated Paul....and it was him who killed him in the battle...all of Brads family is dead..most of which killed themselves because they all are crazy!!!! Brad is crazy and starts abusing Amy too....she runs away with the baby...and then you need to end it with Pauls really alive and it was all a conspiracy because actually paul needs Amy's baby for a DNA experiment and he needs someone with his genetics...so yeah...no idea for the ending though...sorry..i know it sucks but i love conspiracies!!! lol..when i started writing this though Brad and Paul were the same person juss a skitzophrenic lol..and thats why she fell in love with Brad because he looked so much like Paul...but i couldnt think up anything for it lol

England, 1348. The Black Death sweeps across Europe with powerhouse speed proclaiming itself history's deadliest epidemic. But then, in a crucial fourth down play, all-star receiver Willie Noble of the '69 Colts flips past the free safety for a spectacular game-winning touchdown in the final seconds. Congratulations, Willie Noble, for another Great Moment in the Black Plague.

...Brad tells Amy that there is one more secret. But due to the "don't ask don't tell" policy, she can't know about it.

Next, you should flesh it out. Your whole story is one paragraph. I have written answers longer that that on this site.
