At first I thought maybe. It seemed a little suspicious, but I really doubt it. There was a renovation going. There was additional weight be loaded on a very old bridge. Since 1990 there had been warnings.

I don't know what to believe. The gov't knew about 9/11 before it happened, so I don't exactly trust the government like most people on here do. I'm not against the government, I just don't trust it.

The fact is, the media tells us what they want us to hear. Whoever is in charge way up there with the most money decides what the masses believe to be true. I think it is a little ironic this happened so close to elections as well. Bridges don't just fall down everyday, and like someone said before, the construction was on TOP, not on the base, so it is not correllational.

HM. Good question

i do no longer comprehend correct to the bridge right here in California as to how previous it somewhat is, yet i'd be keen to guess that it somewhat is previous too. The bridge in Minnesota is like over 30 years previous, issues do circulate undesirable after a whilst it somewhat is unhappy to declare. those bridges mandatory to be up dated plenty before than waiting 30 + years to do it, loads of stress gets located upon them on a daily basis so as that faster or later they're certain to furnish out. even although that they were engaged on it, we could get actual it replaced into undesirable already so no ask your self it collapsed like it did. enable's settle for info which you may not make a 30+ 365 days previous bridge like new returned, it of course mandatory substantial artwork to make it like new returned. What terrible tragedies those have been! BTW: beneficial a tanker hitting a glance after rail ought to bring about an explosion. interior the tanker you have gasoline so as that all and sundry it took replaced into some factor to furnish off sparks or flames and you get a extensive explosion. That why they say pretty explosive cloth are contained with in those tankers, no smoking etc... whilst i'm going to no longer have used the right wording, you get the image of what can happen if there is a few form of sparks/hearth etc, enhance and its all blown away!

I would think the people who maintain and inspect these bridges could tell if the bridge was in danger of collapsing and therefore stop traffic before a tragedy. Wouldn't someone be monitoring it while construction work was being done? I'm waiting for the answers that will come after inspecting the damaged rubble.

I live in the area and have seen the news reports. First of all, they said that the last inspection was done in 2004 with nothing looking wrong. Then about a half hour later the Governor said that inspections were done also in 2005 and 2006 and only structural fractures were found...said was nothing serious(i am not an engineer so i wouldnt know what is serious). In other reports they said that only cosmetic construction was taking place on this bridge.

Justs the facts or what the media portayed as the facts as far as the inspections and construction work done on this particular bridge.

no, it isnt terrorism. you can spot terrorism when big explosions occur and a lot more people are dead. the answer to why it collapsed is, like what the last guy said, shitty architecture. either A. the general contractor for the bridge project was inexperienced/bad or B. the actual workers who were working on the project took short cuts and did lowsy work.
i just recently got a job in construction. and i was over hearing a conversation between this guy and this other guy who welds steal. he was talking about how sometimes when certain bars wont fit like they are supposed to, they pay the inspector to turn around, and then they take a short cut by cutting the hole larger on spot and then welding it together. maybe something like this occured during the construction of this bridge.
i am suprised more people werent killed considering the time of day.
bye

Oh yes. The Minneapolis-St. Paul line was a bevy of democracy with boatloads of WMDs and thousands of Marines standing guard. Who didn't know they'd try for it first?

*Eye roll*

Come on, people (and I don't just mean you at all, CreoleGirl, you asked a fair question) - the answer is (drum roll please) NO! It was due to shoddy construction. All our tax money goes to overpay the Roadwork Lords who just continuously make the roads worse so that they're always guaranteed a job and a cushy pension! (Sorry to those of you Roadwork Lords who aren't like that at all, bless the three of ya). The extent to which our "president" has made this nation paranoid is right ill.

My heart goes out to the victims and their friends and family.

There is no evidence to suggest it's anything other than a structural collapse probably due to the extreme heat, construction and a train going under the bridge setting up vibrations all at the same time.

MINNEAPOLIS - An interstate bridge suddenly broke into huge sections and collapsed into the Mississippi River during bumper-to-bumper traffic Wednesday, killing at least six people and sending vehicles, tons of concrete and twisted metal crashing into the water.

The Interstate 35W bridge, a major link between Minneapolis and St. Paul, was in the midst of being repaired when it collapsed.

"There were two lanes of traffic, bumper to bumper, at the point of the collapse. Those cars did go into the river," Minneapolis Police Lt. Amelia Huffman. "At this point there is nothing to suggest that this was anything other than a structural collapse."

We seriously need to stop thinking about terrorism every time something bad happens. To do so means that they have accomplished their goal.

The bridge collapsed. Bridges have done that for centuries.
