Books with lots of Violence in them. Especially if I don't expect it to be there. A couple months ago I was reading "American Psycho" by E. Ellis. That was crazy! I couldn't finish it...

I dislike books that do not have satisfying endings where its like you read the whole thing and then you finally get to the end and are waiting, even up until the last page, for something good to happen, but it never does. Like Just Ella. I very much disliked that book. Or books that are just extremely boring. Like The Iliad. That was probably the most boring book I ever had to read. It was extremely hard to get through because I couldn't always understand what was happening and the print was so small.

Those teen romance/dramas. You know, like Gossip Girl, The Clique, etc. It's basically having Super Sweet 16, which I hate to begin with, in book form. Though, I DO like many "young adult" books... the ones that aren't focused on shopping and hot boys.
And I also dislike any romances where the female protagonist is just tripping all over herself, worrying about impressing some guy. Sheesh. Women are really not this pathetic. Well... most women.
=)

I bought this beautifully bound, corinthian leather book that had gold colored edges on all the pages. I dont remember the author but the name of it was "Journal." The lady at the store told me it was an open book and a mystery at the same time. Sounded good. I get home, open it up,---and all the pages looked blank. Not even numbers. I thought "Aha. there's the mystery. I'll get out my lighter and heat up the pages since they're probably done in invisible ink." The damn thing caught like a brushfire in hell and burned up in less than 60 seconds. Let me know if you've ever read it. I'd sure like to know how it ends.

Anything too formulaic is boring (such as many romance-mysteries & bodice rippers). I hate reading a book & thinking "this is crap, even I could write a better story". Also things like computer programming texts - as I have no idea what they are trying to tell me. I am still at the "what happens if I click here" stage of computer use.

Usually biographies or autobiographies, because they're too much fact and not enough fun or fiction. I know that's the point, but that's so boring for me.
And books where the author overdoes the fantasy by adding names like Arghlishacksezi. That annoys me to the max.
Other than that, I love all kinds of books. =)

Fiction.
Because they are so stereo-typical,in an expanded way.
possibly science fiction is the exception.
i like reading about true things, and that can include
meaningless trivial stories;suchlike the german engineer who
in the 1920's drew-up plans for the dam-ing of the meditterranean() sea,to merge europe with africa;actually,
it would have stopped and solved the coming virtually world
wide depression, with employment for GENERATIONS of
workers;and presumably not just africans and europeans!

I dislike readings works that display a lack of editing...the books that have about 100 pages of unnecessary details....just finished one about two weeks ago.

Non-fiction books are the best way to get me away from books, and I usually LOVE reading. Well, reading fiction anyway.
It's not that the factual bores me, but rather the imagination is more exciting.

Ughhhh. I generally like to read anything well written! I do not like those teenage romance/drama novels, like high school themed books and books about...teens. I can't stand them. I don't consider most teen or romance novels as literature.
I also don't like anything that is poorly written.
