If you are downtown there really isn't parking. You can park overnight. If you can find it, it is likely blocks away from the hotel. But many of the streets are no parking during rush hour. Then meter parking all day. So that means if you aren't down and moving your car at 6am. You get a ticket and very shortly after you are towed. AND it does happen quickly. If you do move it, you are then stuck at rush hour without parking for several hours.

Get the hotel parking. Many places that is an underground lot, so safer and more convenient trip via an elevator straight upstairs.

I have my share of Vancouver hotels. And the general rule seems to be the more the parking charges, the fewer other options you really have. lol. Well its not the only factor, but it is one.

It would be really annoying to park on the street, because you would need to constantly add money to the metre, while parking during the day - there is also a 2 hour max.

There are no free spots (1-2 very RARE spots) in downtown Vancouver, and few in other popular areas like Kits. Overnight, there is free parking in many downtown spots from 8pm to about 9am. It is somewhat safe, but overnight anything can happen. I have gotten my car broken into in downtown Vancouver (but not in a busy area), after leaving it there past midnight. The fine for not paying your parking is about $30.

There are overnight parking lots for about $15. It will probably be cheaper from your hotel.

In other Vancouver neighbourhoods you should have no problem finding free parking. But I wouldn't ever guarantee safe parking on any Greater Vancouver street.

Its better and safer to park in the hotels parking lots- they have video cameras that monitor the cars, and the bad guys know this.

It's only about 15 km around the park, so you should be able to do it in half a hour. There are bike paths, so you don't have to fight traffic.

Who in their right mind wouldn't pay for secure parking? Perhaps you should consider staying at a hostel.
