for some strange reason, no one is trusting me.

well, the thing is, i am going out with this guy. he is a very good person and very considerate of my feelings and emotions( i sort of wish if i was like that).
but anyways, my father thinks that he is the type of person who would try and take advantage of me. I know that would never happen because I told my bf the first time we started dating that i do not plan on doing 'things' any time soon. and i really think that he understands that.
but for some reason, my father thinks that i am dumb enough to let him get me pregnant or drop out of school and run off to Vegas.
me and my father have a close relation ship but some times he gets on my nerves about these kind of things. yeah, yeah, father knows best but i don't want to hear that.

how do i get him off my back because I WILL NOT break up with him if I don't feel the need to.

If you won't listen to your father, then you won't listen to anyone else here who is reasonable. Sounds like you just want someone to tell you to do what ever you want and apease your guilt. So go ahead, see where that gets you. You'll probably regret it some day. Reason and logical thinking should rule over emotion, but sound like you don't want reason. Silly girl.

I think all 3 of you should go and have dinner or have some kind of gathering...so your dad can be able to talk to you and your boyfriend...and also your boyfriend can express his feelings about everything...You dad is just being a father, I mean ofcourse you know...what father wants to see his little princess in a relationship...He is like this because he knows what it was like when he was that age...Girls was probably a main focus, as it is to MOST guys...He is just thinking about how it was when he was growing up and having a girlfriend...Have your boyfriend prove to your dad, that he is there for YOU and nothing more, especially the fact of taking advantage of you...If your dad takes the time to actually get to know your man, then he will feel alot betetr that his daughter is being taken care of...Your dad is just worried so i mean, dont worry...He is just being a father to you...He is showing his sensitivity because "his little girl is all grown up"...Good Luck...

my first question is how well does your father know this young man? the best way to get dad off your back is to be friends with the boy( not the kissy kissy kind), ask dad for permission to invite b/f to dinner, bbq on weekend etc and let dad see how he treats you. if this young man is as kind and considerate as you think, dad will see it in time as he he sees you 2 together, but if he does not know the b/f is easier to make judgement of bad conduct. remember, your father has your best intrest at heart and you would not be the first young lady to get pregnant or run off against parent wishes. be open and honest with your parents, it is not easy having to let you go and grow up, you are their little girl no matter how old you get. give dad a chance, good luck and stick to your guns on the not doing "things", sometimes boys can put a great deal of pressure on you after you have been together for a while and dad knows this

sometimes, father doesn't know best. i have an idea for you, but it's kind of dumb. next time you 2 go out, bring a voice recorder, and don't let anyone know about it. record the entire thing, and let your dad hear it. if your boyfriend is really as nice as you believe he is, then there should be no problem with recording it. your dad will find out how nice he is, and you should be cleared for dating. If that doesn't work, then talk him into believing you.

Have you tried talking to him about it and maybe compromising a little? There must be a reason he feels like that, stay in the relationship with caution...just be aware of anything that may go along with what your dad is saying. Otherwise, don't break up with him unless you feel you want to.

I think your Dad can read other men better than you could.
Now if he said it about EVERY guy then that's different. Take your Pop's feeling into consideration!

Tell him that any parent who tells their child to leave their bf/gf, the child will do the complete opposite. Also tell him that you need to live and learn so you can be a stable adult. You may be his child, but his little girl is growing up and he needs to give you room to grow.
