Their is not more black people who live in poverty compare to whites. Their are plenty of black people who are considered "middle class" in fact most African Americans are employed and have a job. Statistically, black people make up the small 8.2% unemployment rate in America compare to the large pecentage of other races. Even black people who is in the "lower class" still live better than other people in good neighborhoods. Not just black people live in the ghetto.

The "Great Society" and the "war on poverty" which misappropriated trillions of dollars to a welfare state where the govt replaces the traditional family.

The middle class is only available to those who earn that standard of living. You cannot guarantee success. You can guarantee a reasonable access to education and jobs, but without stable families, all the policies in the world won't improve the lot of blacks in poverty. It's not the economy stupid!

I didn't know that more blacks lived in poverty than whites. Not trying to be funny. Honestly, I think that it depends on where you live and where you look. I live in the south and I see just as many poor white people as I see poor black people and vice versa. I see just as many high class blacks as I do whites. And in North Carolina, I must say that there are more Indian people living in poverty than any other race. You would not believe how poor some of the Indian people are in North Carolina.

Well White people had a Huge head start. After the slaves were freed, blacks were still treated as second class citizens and were not given too many opportunities. not until probably the 1960s and Affirmative action came out have blacks , and all minority groups , including women, have been given a chance to make something of themselves. But they spent about 100 years in poverty its very hard to claw out of that. And alot do.

Most blacks in the U.S. are middle class and the % of our middle class is growing faster than whites. And even the poor blacks live better than about 70% of the world simply by being American...We aint doin so bad...

Capitalism makes it impossible for everyone to be middle class..Someone always have to be on the bottom..

Sweetie, it depends where you live. I live in a beautiful area in Southern California where the homes sell for $600,000+ and rentals start at $1600+ mth. There are tons of middle & upper class blacks in our area, driving nice cars and living in beautiful homes.

I don't understand why people in these days and times still believe all blacks are poor & uneducated???

My man is black, he went to LSU got a B.S. degree, he has many cousins in college right now. One who is going to medical school.

It just irritates me. I put a white woman I worked with in New Orleans in her place when she tried to generalize blacks. Told her my man has more college grads then my family.

PPL Get over your better than though attitude!

while reading a book, you're stimulating your brain. You make your literacy and reading skills and you simply along the way, are more literate. Even with today's modern tools, you still need to have the ability to read.
While you're watching t.v. can be good fun, it is not doing anything to the human brain.
