Go up to Mount Evans, highest paved road in N.A., I was up there last week by Summit lake. There are still lots of drifts and it's a lot closer than the Springs or RMNP.

I live in highlands ranch, I saw the whole system move across. No snow was reported for last night. The warm front last night (48 F) was violently pushed up from a system coming from the north which creates a storm just like in summertime. It was awesome last night, i googled it and only an average of three thundersnow storms are reported in the U.S. alone. We get some weird weather being so close to the mountains. Only in Colorado as my father says.

Above the tree line (12000 feet), but I wouldn't expect to do much skiing this time of year. As others have suggested, go to Rocky Mountain National Park. I remember one year it snowed in Denver in July. It just depends.

Try the gift shop located at the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Hey, if you are lucky if you drive up there you just might get caught in a snow storm even at this time of the year. It has been known to snow up there in August!

Unusual to have snow on Pikes Peak in August, but it could happen ( I lived right next to it for 25 years). But, some of the peaks in Rky Mtn. Nat'l park have snow yr-round. Pikes Peak always has snow through June, and Evans Peak just outside Denver too.And one year it snowed ike crazy ( blizzard conditions) on Monument hHll (between Denver and Colorado Springs) I was there! Closed the airport in Denver. Call the weather service in Denver or Ranger station in Rky Mrn. Nat'l Park and see if they can help you.

This time of year you can go to St. Marys Glacier. People who have to ski or board year round go there. Just west on I-70 past Idaho Spgs. Exit on Fall River Road and go right to the town of Alice, where the trail heads are. Totally easy to find.
