From what I've seen, the surge is going pretty well. Even the NYTimes finally admitted that. The truth is tough to hear, isn't it?

The surge has its moments of success but it doesn't matter because you hit it on the head. The Iraqis do not want Democracy. WHY???? Read the following carefully and you will understand.
These comments come from a person who lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years and recently returned to the USA.
* Theologically - no. Because the Mulsim's allegiance is to Allah, the moon God of Arabia not to a government.
* Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam. (Quran, 2:256)
* Scripturally - no. Because the Muslim's allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran. (source: the Quran)
* Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
* Socially - no. Because the Muslim's allegiance to Islam forbids him to socialize with Christians and Jews because they will contaminate him. (source: the Quran)
* Politically - no. Because he must submit to the Mullahs who teach annihilation of Israel and the destruction of America, the great Satan.
* Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him. (Quran: 4:34)
* Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept any constitution since it is not based on the Islamic principals.
* Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. A democratic government and Islam cannot coexist. Every Muslim governement is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Perhaps after reading these comments from a person who really knows Islam well we should be aware of our differences and be suspicious of all Muslims in the world. Call it what you wish, it is still the truth. And do not allow any Muslim who professes to be moderate talk you into believing that they do not follow the orders of the Quran.

About the same. Unless we have a surge of several hundred thousand troops and are actually able to fight a war, things will not change.

Yes, just as good.
Both seem to be abysmal failures.
You cannot export democracy -- you can only import it.
