This really depends on where you use this boat. If it is on a lake a low horsepower motor is not a problem. If you use it on a river where there is likely to be a current you must insure you have enough horse power to overcome the effects of the water's current. If you find yourself in a strong current and/or you are fighting a headwind, 35 hp may not be strong enough to make adequate headway before you run out of gas.

Barely....Your looking at about 10mph once you get over 5 people on it. I have a brand new 20 footer with a 50hp and it only goes about 20. Which is a perfect combo of speed and cruise. I would shoot for a minimal 50. 90 hp is where you want to be idealy for tubing or just getting a good breeze on you when its hot out, getting off the lake quick in case the weather catches you.

for the price of a 35hp Merck, you can buy an older johnson, evenrude, chrysler with more horsepower.the bigger the motor the less strain on the motor you will probably have a full crew on your next trip, in most cases these older motors hold up better than the new ,check local marinas that sell used motorsthay should help you out.

You will have to change props to a flat pitch 9 or 10 or you will over work the Eng.it's not really enough as it will be hard to control in current. Or turns.

Even a 5 year old wearing a lifejacket can move a boat, the question is, how fast do you want it to move?

2 hp will move it... very slowly.
Depends on how fast you want it to go... if you have one of the big wind catching sun shades... and how much wind you would operate it in.
