Normal to have concrete crack.
As long as there is no heaving you won't even notice it when you replace the carpet.
I would recommend a 6 pound re-bond pad.
The pad is the life of carpeting.
If you skimp on the pad, it will wear out the carpet much faster.
Get a nice 6 pound Rebond, and forget about killing the seller for not disclosing something they most likely had no way of knowing.

Cracking of concrete is normal. All concrete floors have cracks in them...some you can't see on the surface, others are internal, some are quite large.
It does not mean that there is something wrong with the building, but all material settles and continues to settle throughout the cycle of the home.
If the cracks are smaller than 1/4", then don't worry about it. However, if you are extremely concerned about it...go to Home Depot or Lowes and you can get a bottle of premixed concrete...and all you have to do is fill in the crack, or you can use any flexible caulk if it's going to be under carpet.
If you are on the ground floor...it takes 7 years for a foundation to fully cure to the core.
Chances are, it's ok, but as a first-time buyer, I can see where that would be a disturbing thing to find.
PS: Just an FYI, an inspector, a seller, NOR a homeowner, can be held liable for unknown, hidden defects of a home. They are not required to disclose, what they are unaware of.

Most states now require that a disclosure of known defects be provided by the seller to the agent and or to the buyers prior to closing you need to find out if your state has that requirement and or if the issue you brought up is disclosed within that form. The other answerers might be right in that concrete does crack, however I would sleep better knowing that it is just a normal crack and not a foundation and or a continuing settling problem that could get worse. I would get a licensed contractor to come out and tell you what it is and then proceed to find out what your rights are under your state's laws if that becomes a necessity.
Best of luck to you.

No, you don't. The seller probably was not aware of it either. Unless your concrete cracks are very sizeable, they are not an issue of concern. Most concrete cracks somewhat. If the floors remain level and these are only fissure cracks, you are worrying over nothing.

Normal settling. Have any inspector you want to come in right now and see it. They will all tell you the same thing. It is normal. No worries, and no need for a law suit. You will lose.
