I have read the article where they cited executive orders and Presidential directives and I also read the responses here where a lot of people are under the impression that he cannot because it is unconstitutional. He has no regard for the US Constitution and he HAS indeed laid the ground work to take over at any time
People, be scared, be very scared. You will see how power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely
On May 9, 2007, George W. Bush issued a PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE giving him full control of the government in the event of a "catastrophic emergency." It is known as National Security Presidential Directive 51 or NSPD51.
http://www.fas.org/irp/offdocs/nspd/nspd...
Although the directive doesn't specifically identify the types of emergencies that would qualify as "catastrophic," it is vague enough to encompass "any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government function." This means that a hurricane or an earthquake in Guam or Hawai'i or a bridge collapse in any state can fall under this directives auspices and therein the total power grab.
Presidential directives in essence are decrees issued by the President without having to seek Congressional approval. NSPD51, unlike the "temp" powers bestowed on the President through the Patriot Act with an expiration of 6 months, has NO EXPIRATION TIME i.e it could stay in place ad infinitum- forever, sort of like a dictatorship.

relies upon the vote casting favoring which applicants... i think of they could bypass alongside with their plan if any of the CFR individuals could have been given a raffle to get elected and proceed the artwork. yet from each and every of the precautions he has taken to get his patriot act into existence, and the CDC Anthrax ingredient, i'm extraordinarily confident that he anticipate employing it a approach or the different to acertain its capacity over the U. S.... additionally, with the recent AL-Quaeda warning and ''signs and indications'' feeled by using Chertoff, i assume he won't wait too long in the previous allowing this act, just to no longer look too lots close to to the election to look suspicious... So all in all, they're over 50% risk that he will definitly do some thing together with his patriot act, yet wether or no longer he will cancel the election or positioned off it, its yet another rely... we will see quickly, regrettably!!

First off, I think these two guy are just trying to make a name for themselves by bashing Bush.

As powerful a position as the presidency is, neither the legislative nor judicial branches would allow such a thing to happen, To even consider such a move would require congressional approval and with the seats being held by Republicans along with Democrats who are sympathetic to the republicans, a vote to cancel an election would simply not happen.

Add to all of that the fact that the Bush administration is facing certain legal problems from the judges being dismissed like they were and President Bush just simply isn't in a position to try and whithhold one of our basic freedoms that happens to be guaranteed by the Constitution.

I think I can safely say, there will be an election in 2008.

It wouldn't surprise me. When I first learned that little moron Georgie was running I said "NO way". He's bankrupted almost every company he's been involved with. Then Papa Bush bailed his scrawny male cheerleader butt out of hock and wham! He 's appointed President by the judges that Papa Bush appointed. His whole gang that can't think straight think they're above the law, He's starting to act more and more like those he preaches about, Castro, etc. Wouln't surprise me a bit. I just wonder will he move to Dubai like Haliburton just did and hide from America, after all the carnage he has brought down on the average Americans?

It might happen. Bush does not want to give up his power as the soon to be dictator of the United States. If case you dont know he recently announced that in case of an emergency he will have total control over the country, and this power lets him cancel election if he "deems necessary". Of course the bigger question is why? Well, lets just say that his intentions are not good. He is only a token of the elite that rules the world, and they are using bush to create martial law in america and then later on, the world.

good article....funny, but like all satries, it has a point. Bush has overcome two elections he really lost...ignores laws that would make him a complicent war criminal...and he's, acording to the writer, making detainment camps for illegal immigrants, similar to that of concentration camps. How he remained president the last two terms is an unfortunate miracle. That unfortunate mircale being the Iraq War and democratic candidates who didn't persue a recount.

Personally, I think Mr. Wasserman and Mr. Fitrakis are quite mistaken. The election will take place, and the winner will take office in January 2009 with an orderly transition of power as set forth in the Constitution.

i think hes gonna go 2 war against a power full country and when that country does something against the us or its friends ..like Canada ..bush will pass a vote in congress granting emergency power 2 the president ....and ounce bush doesn't have 2 worry about congress he can do what ever he WAnT'S because what ever he say's wood have 2 be law since it doesn't have 2 go throw congress ...so he could say in the heat of the war we will have 2 cancel the 2008 election because switch governments in this critical time wood be unwise and dangerous because a new leader wood not know how 2 react ounce @ war ..so I'm saying he doest that or he hits the big red button launching nuclear missiles in every direction causing a full out war .....theirs no way that bush is just gonna step down something drastic is gonna happen

Rove and Cheney are working on that at this very moment. Bush of course doesn't have the brain power but he has certainly proven himself a capable puppet.

I read the first few lines of that BS article and went back here. It's unconstitutional, and Bush would suffer major penalties for attempting such a feat.

If this is true, it would be bigger than watergate.
