The FBI is involved because his illegal dog fighting operations crossed state borders, there by making the illegal actions a federal and not just a state offense.

Michael Vick is a famous wealthy athlete who is supposed to act as a role model. Instead he takes part in this despicable behavior by the treatment of cruelty to animals. If he has made such a bad choice he should be treated severely and publicly in order to demonstrate that even people in his position are not above the law, and will be dealt with by the law for such conduct. Anyone getting involved in this kind of activity should be dealt with in the same manner by the Feds

If he has broken a federal law, or comitted a crime involving more than one state it is standard for federal investigators to be involved.
The suggestion that this is taking resources away from investigating murders or terrorism is a stupid one. There are always taskforces assigned to different areas of crime.
This is a serious crime and is being investigated accordingly. If anything we have seen in the US that being rich and famous is more likely to get you out of trouble than to see that trouble escalated.

Have you considered that maybe the Feds always get involved with these cases and that its just because its Michael Vick that the media has picked up on it?
Think about it...

Dog fighting is a violation of Federal Law. That's why he is involved with the "Feds".
And, dog fighting is a serious matter. It is just the top of a very dirty, very dangerous iceberg.
If you do a little research on it, you will find it is closely tied to the underworld of drugs, theft and many other nasty crimes.

It's actually because the gambling ring went across several states lines, not because it's him. HUGE operation with hundreds of thousands of dollars involved.

It became Federal when it crossed state lines and the fact that it is illegal and a heinous crime. It has nothing to do with it being Vick.

Being involved with dog-fighting is a federal offense.
They're doing what we hired them to do.
