I know at the end it gets hard and you want the baby out, but getting induced for that reason is not justified and I really question a doctor who is suggesting that.

Induction IS painful because it makes labor start immediately and there's no time to prepare or build up to the pain. Induction also puts you at a higher risk for medical interventions, drugs and having a c-section. Because the hormones are synthetic sometimes the fetus does not tolerate the artificial labor well. Why does your doctor want to put your baby at risk when there is no medical reason for it?

My first was an induction and I hope I never have to do that again. Just let nature take its course. You're not even overdue.

You'll be holding your baby soon, and remember that every day they are in your womb they are getting stronger.

My doctor will not allow a woman to go more than 7 days past her due date. I was 3 days late and later learned that I could have had the option for early inducement. I wish I had done it. My baby was born with a high birth weight. I was induced and have nothing to compare it to but it wasn't that bad. Although the contractions may be stronger they are also expected and not coming on suddenly like if you went into labor at home or something which makes it a lot less scary.

Well I'm not sure how bad it hurts yet...I'm due today and still no baby. All I know is that my doctor told me she wouldn't induce me before 40 weeks until my body was progressing enough on its own...I never got past 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. If they induce before your body is ready, she told me that there is an increased risk of having to have a c-section. I've also been told that when you are induced the pain comes on stronger and sometimes faster than if you let your body go naturally on its own time. Don't get me wrong...I'm all for having the baby out especially since I was due today..I know it is exciting and that you just want your little girl out...but make sure you ask your doctor their opinion on why they are wanting for you to have her a little early. Good Luck! Its so exciting to be so close..I know!

Unless there is a medical reason to be induced, I would not go that route, but let it happen naturally. i don't see a reason to do that if the baby is healthy and not ready on their own. i was just in the hospital yesterday to be induced because id had low fluids around the baby for over a week. i was on the drug for 6 hrs, and i hadnt started dialating before they tried this. i got some cramping and light contractions here and there, but i STILL did not dialate and so the whole thing was unsuccessful anyway. they gave me the choice of a csection or staying overnight on the iv fluids to see if the amniotic fluid would go up, so i stayed overnight and in the morning the fluids were at a good level again so i went home. they still gave me the option of the section, but there was no medical reason for it so i didnt feel right doing it at all. why force my baby to come when she is not ready? believe me i am done being pregnant at this point, but id rather she be ready than be forced if she doesn't need to be.

I used to hear these wives tales about how to induce labor. Im not for sure if they actually work.

Take a bath with baby oil

Walk up and down stairs after going pee

Swim in a pool for several hours a few days in a row

labor is labor whether the dr starts it or your body decides to. the pitocin drip just speeds it up some. the dr will manually break your water which isnt bad at all. whatever you do, have the epidural! it doesnt make any sense to subject yourself to that kind of pain when there is an alternative!

and let me tell you, child labor is nothing like they make it seem. the pain is a different kind of pain than anything you've ever felt. i'm not gonna say it's the worst agony you have or ever will feel. if it gets to the point that you know you arent gonna be able to handle it, take the epidural!

Let the baby girl come when shes ready.. I heard its alot less painful..personally i had a c section, but i do kno if your induced you will be at a bigger risk for a c section, because you may lay in labour for a whole day and nothing happen. so i would let her show her face when shes ready.

Yes, it hurts, but so does natural child birth. You need to speak with your OB about pain control methods and their availability.

Many women love epidurals, but you still have to labor through to 4-5 cm dilation before you can get one.

At 39 weeks,,,you may go into labor without induction.

The best thing to do is let nature take its course. Once you hit 39 weeks walk take hot baths have sex and if might push you along but inducing if pritty much f*ing with nature. I wouldent do it unless I had to
