What is it worth and what is it made of.... It weighs 2.69 Grams and a normal 2006 Penny weighs 2.52... I got it from a roll of Pennies from the bank.... Is it worth any thing... tell me about it, i'm very curious as to why it exists.

What you have is a penny that has been plated or is made from some sort of base metal. That is why it is magnetic. This is not an original issue from the mint and will be worth no more than face value.

You do not have a mint item. It was plated outside the mint. The plating added the weight. Does it look exactly like all the other cents or is there a difference? I have seen cast coins before, but usually they are quarters made out of lead. In that case the lettering is larger than on the regular coin. Even though it is not a mint item, a dealer should see it so he can tell you exactly what was done. If a coin club is near by ask their members. cents are rolled by machine and as long as it is close the machines puts them in the roll. Also people roll their own. i have received a lot of world coins in rolls from banks.

i do not think the penny is an accident, but it might be.

I would also caution you to check the penny out carefully. There are some hollowed out coins that are being found that have radio transmitters in them, and they have a weight difference about them, but I dont' recall if they are heavier or lighter.

No one knows what the purpose of the transmitter is, it is short range. (no hoax on this, regardless whether you find it in an internet search or not.)

take it to a bank for authenication, and make sure you don't lose it when you go, that is too cool, and post a photo if you can
