War funding has never been used properly. Ours is a wartime economy. Our nation fares economically at it's best whenever we're engaged in some conflict. This gang of thugs in Washington are setting the stage so the profiteers of Corporate America can make money off the blood of American service personnel. Millions in this melee have gone and will continue to go without a trace. You, I, and every other American must share in the knowledge that generations of our descendants will be paying for this debacle.

There are a lot of us who believe that once we've gotten rid of this current administration (which may be no easy feat) the accounting will begin, and the criminals who have fed off this war will be brought to justice.

poster Joru - my guess, he's a professional dis-informer. His job is to track threads like this and insert some deceptive nonsense.
There were indeed congressional hearings held about this, and the oversight process was found to be completely disingenuous. Tens, if not, hundreds of BILLIONS went missing. This did not happen in previous wars; this is a new kind of operation, where the administration helps some private interests rape the tax payer in the name of 'national security'... it's the corrupt politicians dream. Money that the people think is going to their safety being diverted to god knows who's pockets.
Funny about how Joru talks about money in 'tons'... that was the way it was shipped to Iraq, freight pallets loaded with bills by the ton.

Wow. So many misinformed people I don't know where to start. Those billions are going right where they need to for the most part. As I have stated in other questions....when you have a project as big as the Iraq war you're going to have stuff/money got missing, be found, lost again, misappropriated, re-appropriated, and accounting errors to mix it up even more. That is just a fact of business....the only thing more checks and balances will do in a project of this size is slow the money down from getting where it needs to go.
As for where it's going specifically...the economy is getting a freaking ton of it. We have dozens of companies making supplies, weapons, and vehicles. We have researchers and labs making new stuff for the military. There are a ton of jobs involved and the stock market is doing great because of it.
As for the medical support part of your question....the problems with the health-care system, Medicare, social security, etc. can't be fixed by dropping money in them from the general budget or the war budget or any other budget. The system is flawed and has been since it's conception. It needs to be rebuilt, which start with legislation first and money possibly down the road.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know that the military budget has never been audited? That the dept of defense has a BLANK CHECK when it comes to war contracts????? That KB R have been awarded NO BID contracts to the tune of $41 BILLION ????? That means that the contracts were just handed over to them, no one else got to bid. That company was, in an amazing coincidence, the company that Vice President DIck Cheney was CEO of???
Trust me, your tax dollars are NOT being spent wisely...they are being spent on a senseless war based on lies for the enormous profit of a handful of people.
And to heck with the vets...they have already served their purpose as far as this administration is concerned.

When the present administration leaves office I predict we're going to find out a lot about where our money really went.
Why are the men & women in the Military fighting without proper equipment and protection?
We've spent billions and will spent billions more....what are we paying for?

You are right to wonder and we should hold these people accountable.
True story:
I had seen on more than one occasion an Iraqi person, no idea who, pushing a wheelbarrow of crisp US $100 bills down the fking street. Who knows who he was or where he was going, but it didn't seem like the best way to transport money.

Well, Congress in 2006 held hearings to find out where hundreds of millions of dollars in cash wandered off too...
And one Republican (I can't remember his name) made a comment that "sure, when you talk about how many tons worth of cash were missing, it seems like a lot..."
I also remembers Jon Stewart's comment -- yes, any amount of money that you can measure in 'tons' (physical mass tons of paper on pallets) is a lot.

Do you really think that Bush $ Co. AREN'T making a mint of this war???
Don't you think that it is a little suspicious that KBR a subsidiary of Haliburton, Cheney's company, is getting all of these no bid contracts?
