It's about how Galinda (Glinda) and Elphaba met before the story of The Wizard of Oz began. Why Elphaba's known as Wicked, how her sister became Wicked as well, how the Scarecrow came about, etc. It's a great show and if you're considering seeing it, go. You'll enjoy it :-)

"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" is about Elphaba's, the witch's, life. It is a great read. But be warned....the musical: "Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz" is very different from the book.

Wicked is about Elphaba [the witch in the Wizard of Oz] growing up before Dorothy or any of the other characters were in the picture. She goes off to school and she meets Glinda [then Galinda]. They become friends and then they go their seperate ways, each going off to do different magic. Then Dorothy and the Oz characters get introduced and then it is about Elphaba's downfall.
