If you download a SNES EMULATOR and some copyrighted SNES ROMS, can you get sued, arrested, or fined? I really doubt you could. Does anybody every know someone who actually did?

1. Emulators are not illegal, as long as they were not stolen from a company ( Ensata is the only stolen one I can think of ).

2. Most ROM sites are located in other countries, where it is tougher to go after the site owners.

3. Due to the widespread downloading of ROMS, it would be highly ineffective to try to arrest people for stealing them. It would take far more law enforcement power than any agency has the power to provide. Thus, they will usually only go after those distributing them, which, again, are usually sites in countries out of the agencies' jurisdiction.

You technically could, but most authorities would go after the site owners. It's only illegal if you don't own the game to begin with.

I mean you probably could get sued if Nintendo wanted to sue you. I mean if your asking cause your thinking about doing it, thats a risk. If you don't want to be sued don't risk it. Its not worth it.
