It seems that, for some reason, most people here are using the FRENCH pronunciation. I don't recommend that (and I don't know why that seems to happen with French more than other languages), but I'll consider it as an option
Note that, no matter which pronunciation you use, the accent of the word is on the last syllable. That means anything that similarly has the accent at the end and makes the same sound as the "-et" of trebuchet, will work
That means that, whether you go with #1 or #2 below three-letter words will work just fine. So I have no idea why you don't want to use them.
Also, beware of words that end with the correct sound but without the proper syllable accented. That means Rikki's first list will not work.
_______________
For the two pronunciations people use:
1) If you pronounce it the French way (again, I'm not recommending that), a list like Rikki's second one will work -- that is, any word ending with an accent "AY" sound.
To those already mentioned you may add:
* allay, buffet (the noun!), cafe, cliche, croquet, decay, defray, essay (only as verb), fillet, hurray, obey, per se, inveigh, portray, purvey, soiree, souflee, survey (verb form), today, toupee
(And you CAN use short words like bay, bray, cay, clay, day, dray, fay, fey, flay, fray, gay, gray, hay, jay, lay, may, nay, neigh, pay, play, pray, ray, say, slay, sleigh, spray, stay, stray, sway, they, tray, way, weigh, whey. Note: several of these are FOUR or FIVE letters long, if that helps!)
2) Using what is actually the CORRECT pronunciation of the ENGLISH word, you need words ending with a final accented "ET" sound.
Again, short words will work just fine, and there are several -- bet, debt, fret, get, jet, let, met, net, pet, set, sweat, vet, wet, yet
But if you're sure that's not what you want, try these:
* abet, beget, beset, brunette, cadet, cassette, cigarette (depending on your dialect), cornet, diskette, duet, forget, gazette, quartet, quintet, regret, roulette, septet, sextet, silhouette, sobriquet, statuette, suffragette, upset
(And again, DON'T try things like "rocket" or "inlet" -- the accent is on the wrong syllable!)
