I've been a Republican for half a century.
While Nixon had a lot of personality disorders, what he did was pretty innocuous compared to what Reagan, Bush, Clinton and particularly Bush II have done.
The party has been hijacked by the lunatic fringe and hopefully will return to some sort of values eventually.
What would be best for the country would be to get rid of political parties. They are only power/money funnels and do no good for the U.S.
Last night House Republicans didn't like thr way a vote turned out, claimed they had been cheated, when the Democrats called for the vote to be retaken, the Republicans walked out.
Just how childish are our elected employees?

Why? One person does not represent the entire party! Each party has good apples and bad apples, but don't let the bad apples spoil the bunches. It is not the parties that are bad, just some of the members, on both sides.
Remember, Senator Robert Byrd, a democrat, was the former Grand Cyclops of the KKK (yes, that's really what it's called). Does that mean all democrats are racist KKK members? Of course not. Should all democrats be ashamed? No. And neither should all republicans.
That said, I prefer to vote for the person, not the party anyway.

Democratic and Republican are nothing more then Slogans used to make people hate one another, no different from the Nazi's VS the Jew's. People don't even give a dang what their campaign leader is saying they could care less "I want to kill babies when I become president" (I don't care, Ima vote for him cause he's republic and im republic) its pathetic, Elections have nothing to do with who offers the best plan or who has the right idea, or who will do the best for our country. all people care about is "their team winning"... who cares if the presidents screwing his Secretary Ill vote for him cause he's Democratic. Who cares if the president works for the mob and kills people on a daily basis, Ill vote for him cause he's a republican. No one cares about right and just and value. they just wanna win. they don't care if a psycho murderer is in the white house if he's a Democrat the Democratic zombies will vote for him, if he's republican the republican zombies will vote for him... so wouldn't anyone be ashamed to be republic? Bah, you should be asking isn't anyone who votes ashamed.

I would think so!
"I am not a crook."
"You must pursue this investigation of Watergate even if it leads to the president. I'm innocent. You've got to believe I'm innocent. If you don't, take my job." They did!
"There are people who read too much: bibliobibuli. I know some who are constantly drunk on books, as other men are drunk on whiskey or religion. They wander through this most diverting and stimulating of worlds in a haze, seeing nothing and hearing nothing." GW bush is not one of them!
NIXON: Every one's a Jew. Ellsberg's a Jew. Halperin's a Jew.
HALDEMAN: Gelb's a Jew.
NIXON: But there are [unclear] -- Hiss was not a Jew. Very interesting thing. So few of those who engage in espionage -- are Negroes. ... In fact, very few of them become Communists. If they do, they like, they get into Angela Davis -- they're more the capitalist type. And they throw bombs and this and that. But the Negroes. -- have you ever noticed? ... Any ***** spies?
HALDEMAN: Not intellectual enough, not smart enough... not smart enough to be spies.
NIXON: The Jews -- the Jews are, are born spies. You notice how many of them are just in up to their necks?
HALDEMAN: A basic deviousness.
"You won't have old Dick Nixon to kick around."
A Republican's Republican!

When are you people going to realize that it doesn't matter what political party you belong to? Stop bickering about petty crap and get down to what a candidate actually stands for, not just their political affiliation.
Anyone too far to either side (right or left) is way off course. The answer is somewhere in the middle. And it also involves using your head. Think for your self. Just because the party that you're affiliated with supports abortion doesn't mean you have to. And so on. Just because your favorite celeb says something doesn't mean you have to believe it; they're usually dumber than rocks. They're there to entertain, nothing else.

So, because Nixon was bad and Republican, all Republicans must be also be bad, which you think should invoke shame in the hearts and minds of Republicans everywhere? I'm confused trying to follow your logic train.

Nixon opened up trade with China, ended the draft, and ended the Vietnam war. He was a good president. He just got into some shady things. I think all presidents have things that are under the table and shady.
