This car has a serpentine belt. one thing that goes wrong frequently on these cars is the "idler" pulley and or the "tensioner" pulley. they have a bearing in them and they will make a squeaking sound before going bad completely.

The best way to check this is to remove the serpentine belt...then simply grab ahold of the idler and tensioner pully and see if the have some "wiggle" in them. also just turn them by hand...they should turn smoothly...if you feel a drag at all then you have found your problem.

Also check the alternator and AC pulleys while you are there. just turn them by hand and you should be able to feel if there is unusual drag on them

Hope this helps.

Warm the car up for a few minutes, then get down with your ear on top of the engine. Have someone else get inside and rev the engine up to 5000 RPM. If the ringing is coming directly out of the engine block you may have a problem with your rods or valves. If that's the case, time for an engine rebuild. Good luck.

the air compressor for the air conditioning will do this sometimes, stand out in front of it with the air on,and see if that isn't it,most of the time that's the cause of it,good luck on it.
