Well, it certainly won't help the problem. As uncomfortable as it is, try to pee as often as you possibly can even if it's just a few drops. Good luck at the Doc tomorrow.

Rosie D has a good idea: drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Cranberries are a natural anti-oxidant and are exceptionally good for urinary tract health. I used to be very susceptible to urinary and kidney infections. The pain is very discomforting I know. It helped me just to drink an abundance of water, more than what I usually intake. It made me have to go and pee a lot yes, but I gradually noticed a decrease in pain and burning after each time i had to go, providing that I kept up drinking lots of water. And go to your doctor for some antibiotics

Yes, it's not a good idea to hold it because the bacteria multiplies pretty quickly. THe more you drink and pee, the lower the bacteria will stay. Try some Alka Seltzer. It makes the bladder acidic and the bugs don't like it. Also, you can buy some Cystex at the drugstore. It has a mild antibiotic. Some people use that when they first get one and it takes care of it. They take it for 2 days past when they feel better.

Yeah, the burn sucks, but it's never good to hold in urine. When you pee, it's actually killing bacteria down there.
And I'm surprised you can even hold it in when you have a UTI in the first place. That's talent.
Make sure you take all of the medication and follow exactly what the doctor tells you to do. You want to get rid of that asap!
Also, it's very common to get a yeast infection when you have a UTI, so be prepared. It could be a very uncomfortable week.

i have had 2 UTI.
and i found that holding it in increases the pain because you'll have to go more and the flow is fast cause your bladder DOESNOT want to hold it anymore.
the doctor is going to give you either big chalky pills that are seriously 3-4 centamiters long and 1 centemeter wide.
or
a nasty taseing liquid shuff.
i went with the pills and cut them in half when i had to take them so they are easier to swallow.
also you should probably stay out of hot tubs/ baths/ pools until it is all cleared up

Yes, it can contribute to the infection. Afew doses of antibiotics and you will be good to go. Drink cranberry juice for quick (slight) relief. The pure kind, not the kind with added sugar- that will make it worse.

NOOOOOO do not hold you`r urine back.. if you have to go you go. Drink lot`s of water and crannberry juice. If you are not sure it is a UTI it might be a gall or kidneystone. Go to you`r family doctor!
