The Law of Attraction loosely states that if you wish for something hard enough, it will happen. The Murphy's Law is an informal rule which sayys that if something can go wrong, it will go wrong.

I'm not arguing about the veracity of either, but I'm just curious if it's possible to reconcile the two? If yes, what does it say about the nature of human desire?

It's a common foible of human nature to undermine ourselves on a subconscious level; we tell ourselves that we want something, but somewhere in the recesses of our minds we think of all the reasons we can't obtain it or don't deserve it. So yes, Murphy's Law and the Law of Attraction can be operating at the same time.
