Hi,
If one side of the triangle is one third of the perimeter, it is "⅓p".
If another side of the triangle is half the perimeter minus three or ½p - 3.
The third side is 8.
So the perimeter, p, is found by adding:
⅓p + ½p - 3 + 8 = p
⅓p + ½p + 5 = p
Multiply every term times 6.
6(⅓p) + 6(½p) + 6(5) = 6p
2p + 3p + 30 = 6p
5p + 30 = 6p
30 = p
The perimeter is 30. <== answer
The sides are actually 10, 12, and 8.
I hope that helps!! :-)

Let the perimeter be x units
therfore the first side is x/3 and the second side is x/2-3 units
Therefore,
x/3+x/2 -3+8=x
2x+3x-18+48=6x [multiplying both sides by 6 being the LCD of 2 and 3]
2x+3x-6x= -48+18
-x=-30
x=30
Therefore,the perimeter is 30 units

P = a + b + c, where a, b, c are the three sides
a = P/3
b + 3 = P/2; b = P/2 -3
c = 8
P = P/3 + P/2 -3 + 8
P - P/3 - P/2 = 5
P/6 = 5
P = 30
Check
a = 1/3 of P = 10
b plus 3 = 1/2 of P
b plus 3 = 15
b = 12
c = 8
a + b + c = 30
10 + 12 + 8 = 30 checks

a million. permit S be a set such that for each factor x of S there exists a diverse factor x' of S. 2. there is an factor in S, we will call it a million, such that for each factor x of S, a million isn't equivalent to x'. 3. If x and y are factors of S such that x' = y', then x = y. 4. If M is any subset of S such that a million is an portion of M, and for each factor x of M, the factor x' is likewise an portion of M, then M = S. in basic terms as a count number of notation, we write a million' = 2, 2' = 3, etc. We define addition in S as follows: (a1) x + a million = x' (a2) x + y' = (x + y)' The factor x + y is named the sum of x and y. Now to teach that a million + a million = 2. From (a1), with x = a million, we see that a million + a million = a million' = 2.

p/3 + (b) + 8 = p
b+3 =p/2
b = p/2-3
p/3 + (p/2-3) + 8 = p
p/3 + p/2 + 5 = p
p/3 + p/2 -p = -5
2p + 3p -6p = -30
-p = -30
p = 30
Check
p/3 + (p/2-3) + 8 = p
30/3 + 30/2 -3 + 8 = 30
10 + 15 -3 + 8 = 30
10 + 12 + 8 =30
30 = 30
