you are troubled by your own self and in your own mind you believe that if you change the apperance as others might see you for example your avatar you can have some sort of control over the situation that is bothering you and at the time is comforts you

Probably distraction. You probably like photography, you like to show others your pictures, and so when you need distracting you change your pict compulsively. I don't think there is anything seriously wrong with it, just might need a more productive way to solve your problem.

it could be that the pics you choose describe your mood now or how you felt its not weird like i listen to music depending what mood im in but you change pics its also kind of your distraction so dont worry about it
