Hi,

2(x - 2)
---------- is the width.
(x - 1)

The area is:

2(3x - 2)
-----------
x - 1

The length is

3x - 2
--------
x - 2

Since length x width = area, then:

(3x - 2).....2(x - 2)......2(3x - 2)
----------.X.--------- =..-------------
(x - 2)........(x - 1)..........(x - 1)

The (x - 2) factors cancel out.

2(x - 2)
---------- is the width. <== answer
(x - 1)

I hope this helps!! :-)

Area = width x length
w(3x-2)/(x-2) = 2(3x-2)/(x-1)
Cancel the 3x-2, and multiply both sides by (x-2),
w = 2(x-2)/(x-1)

Area = Length * Width
2(3x-2)/(x-1) = A
(3x-2)/(x-2) = L
W = A/L = 2(3x-2)/(x-1) / (3x-2)/(x-2) =
2(3x-2)/(x-1) * (x-2)/(3x-2)
Cancel the (3x-2) in each term =
2(x-2)/(x-1) or (4x-2)/(x-1)

The width is area/length
=2(3x-2)/(x-1) divided by (3x-2)/(x-2)
=2(3x-2)/(x-1)X(x-2)/(3x-2)
=2(x-2)/(x-1)

6x-4/x01=lw w = 3x-2/x-2

w(3x-2)/x-2 = 6x-4/x-1
cross multiply

6x^2-12x-4x+8= w(3x^2-3x-2x+2)

w = 2(3x^2-8x+4)/(3x^2-5x+2)
