No I haven't witnessed a shooting ever in my life, but I was almost shot and killed on time by my neighbor. I was sleeping on the couch and all of a sudden...."BANG! BANG! BANG!" My neighbor shot a gun close to my window and I could have been dead! My mom called the cops and he got arrested.

Well I was a policeman for 21 years and I have to say it's nothing cool or like on TV where everything happens nice.
My biggest memory is watching my bullet go through and I swear to this day I saw the blades of grass part when my bullet hit the ground. I know it's incredible and probably hard to understand but time got very very slow for a little bit.
I also never heard the gunshot which I later thought was weird because my ears didn't ring or anything.
I have also never seen so many police supervisors arrive so quickly to one place at one time that didn't involve free alcohol.

yes, I have seen shooting, in person, and live on tv since I was a kid.

I have heard people tell me they would do this or that when they are about to be shot at, or being shot at, and it does not ever happen like that.

When we were about 2 miles out of Hit Iraq (pronounced "HEET") we started taking small arms fire from what seemed everywhere. I happened to notice my soldier with his headphones on, playing his game boy, weapon on safe.

the other thing I think you are asking, if you've shot someone what is it like. It is exceptionally personal, and apart from liars, I don't think you will ever hear someone say something and not be visibly altered, it has profound effects.

watch someone around you, watch how they like their coffee or the sandwich. How they embrace thier kids and love their family (okay bad example) how they love those they love.
Those who lose their life lose all that.

You do not want to be anywhere near a shooting, you do not want to be a witness to it, and you don't want the image in your mind.

I still remember everything in absolute vivid detail including background noise. It never leaves you. thus is iraq still alive and ugly

Yes and I'll never forget seeing this one lady in the morgue who had been shot 16 times. It looks so clean and almost romantic in the movies and it's nothing like that in real life-especially when it's an innocent child who was caught in the crossfire.
