Psyche was the personification of the human soul. She married Cupid (eros) the God of love. Later she was given immortality by Zeus.

The name Psyche has become the name used throughout the disciplines of mind and soul. Therefore, even if you do not believe in the immortality given by Zeus, there is an immortality of her name and human souls reputation.

The Story Of Cupid

It teaches us that we'll go to incredible lengths to try to live up to the deals we make in the face of fear (Cupid rescuses Psyche from the monster and she loves him but cannot see his face- how often do "modern" women stay in bad relationships rather than upset family?) Breaking those deals forces us to go through tests and journeys that we never thought were possible. Too often we look to others to fix our problem wich lead to more tasks (she goes to Aphrodite/Venus rather than courting Eros/Cupid herself) The story also teaches us about the courage and determination that brings success in the end. It's only after she's crossed the rifer Styx (the final frontier) and risked danger and death that she finaly gains the strength to say no to other person's needs and stand on her own two feet. Something has to change, and the first thing to do so is Psyche. As she changes, the whole world changes with her. She sheds her mortal fate and steps into her destiny as a goddess.

Does that help?

without refreshing on the myth, i'd have to say the theme would be jealousy.....aphrodite to psyche / psyche's sisters to psyche etc etc....the lesson/moral, not completely sure, but i'd venture to guess the simple "if at first you don't succeed..." cause no matter what, psyche tried to get cupid back...and went through how many tests from aprhodite? like six or seven?

check out wikipedia if you don't have the actually myth...i've found they're pretty good with information....even though it is free
