see we guys know that girls doin something that they would rather not...is pretty cool..so if my wife bought me concert tickets or tickets to a football game (Cal vs. USC if she is reading)..or if she took me out on the town to dance, dinner on the beach or a walk at embarcadero or even Alcatraz...that would really be cool... iit is not that you cook for a guy that is expected..that was rude what that guy said..so I had NO problem giving him a thumbs down..IT IS what you cook or the way you cook it..or the timing of what you are cooking..

it doesn't even have to be food related or sports related...hell it can be flowers..

guys can remember the last time they got flowers...it is rare!

I'm not a guy, and I don't know how romantic this is, but I do have something my boyfriend still brings up from several years ago.

He really wanted some french bread pizza. We were leaving to go to the store, when his sister pulled up to break the news that his mother had cancer, and was taken into emergency surgery. After that, he just wanted to be left alone.

I wanted to stay home in case he needed me, but I didn't want to intrude on him while he was coping with such a huge thing. So, while he holed up in his computer room, I stayed busy and out of his hair, by making homemade french bread, and sauce, and put together a damn good pizza. I took it into him with some cold sodas, told him I was going out for a cup of coffee, and if he needed anything to be sure to call. Then I left him alone.

He really appreciated me giving him space to grieve, instead of pushing and badgering in an attempt to console him. He liked the way I let him know I'm there when he's ready, but didn't force it on him. He also really liked the pizza.

His mom's doing great these days, and he still brings that up as the moment he knew he wanted to be with me forever.

Most certainly many times. She has surprised me by coming to where I live without my knowledge (a 2.5 hour drive) just to tell me that she loved and missed me. She has also cooked nice romantic meals and made plans for us to go out places where romance was in the air.
