Raul Castro, who has been in charge of the Cuban government during Castro's illness, has suggested that the U.S. and Cuba begin talks on this subject. Because Cuba is a Communistic country, some people feel we should continue the embargo. However, others feel it should be relaxed and Cuba once again be accessible to U.S. citizens.

Should we? Yes. Will we? No. As long as Castro lives the embargo will remain in place. For anyone who has never visited Cuba, it is a beautiful place. It is just unfortunate that they have been punished for so long because of their leader. I for one would like to see Cuba revived into the tourist destination it once was, but I am not holding my breath.

The last time we had open trade with Cuba, Castro nationalized all American businesses and banks. If he wants to repay them in FULL plus interest for what he stole, then maybe we could talk.

Besides, if Cuba is such a wonderful Marxist utopia, where nobody goes hungry and everyone gets free health care, why do they even need our money? Why do they want to infect their worker's paradise with our capitalist disease? Because communist and socialist systems cannot sustain themselves. They always have to steal from the capitalists in order to stay afloat. I don't see how that will change if Castro's more radical brother takes charge of Cuba.

Pure silly this embargo against Cuba. The cold war is over so what is the USA afraid off? European Parliament condemned the United States, accusing it of instigating a 'serious infringement' of the GATT, World Trade Organisation rules and of international law.

I agree. The embargo doesn't really hurt the Cuban government...it hurts the people in Cuba, they are caught in the middle.

Since the number of Cuban exiles are on the increase, I suspect not much has changed in fact it may be worse. So my answer is no.

Until an aggressive, communistic country in our backyard ends their pursuit of totalitarianism, I don't think we should. Wait until Castro dies and the brother renounces the communist past and then we'll begin talks.
