Australia, mostly NSW and Victoria, extensively - by steam, even! In Scandinavia from Oslo to Trondheim, across to Sweden and down through Denmark. Amsterdam to Otterloo. Florence to Paris. London to Plymouth - and between various other destinations in Britain. Love trains - the old ones for their musical rhythms and smell of coal; the modern ones for their luxurious comfort and convenience, especially with sleepers (I can't sleep on planes, even in first class).

As a child all the time. Started a love affair with trains that has never ended. I loved the smell , the noises - the chugging of the wheels made words, fish an' chips, ham an' eggs, gotta go etc (say them to yourself without a pause between the words and get the feeling of the sound) as the speed altered or we went down an incline. I can still conjure up the smell at will and all the smut and flakes coming in the window just added to the magic. The train down to Weymouth used to pass through the town and to a child seeing the town and the holiday makers through the carriage windows after hours of fields and cows etc was the best part of the journey. Nothing can ever comes close.....

Yes! I love it! When I was about 10 I traveled on the Polar Bear Express 186 miles between Cochrane and Moosonee, Ontario including over the Moose River - through Ontario. It is very far north! I've also traveled from Irvine, California to San Diego and another time from Irvine to Santa Barbara.

Yes, cannot forget those wonderful journeys!:))
From my Native....
A train journey is different from traveling by road or air, especially if you happen to be alone and sitting next to a window during a day trip.Sights outside the window spur some past memory and activate a new set of hyper links. Time loses some of its constraints as thoughts freely explore depths not normally possible during other modes of travel.!!!
Have a wonderful evening!:) Must watch the beautiful SUNSET!:)

Yes. Several times from Madison, NJ to Hoboken, NJ where I got the Path train into New York City. I also commuted for awhile from Summit, NJ to East Orange. I lived out in PA for awhile and would take the Amtrak train from Lancaster PA to Iselin NJ to visit home. Hope you have a good night too.

When I lived in Mont Claire, Pennsylvania, I took the Reading (pronounced Redding) Railroad to work in Philadelphia every day for awhile. When I lived in Palo Alto, California, I took the train to work in San Francisco for awhile. I have also had a few rides on the train from New York to Philadelphia. I also took the tourist steam engine train from Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania, to Intercourse, Pennsylvania, once. (Yes, those are really the names of two Pennsylvania towns.)
I like trains. They are more convenient and comfortable than buses or cars. On the commute from Mont Claire to Philadelphia, my friends and I used to play Gin Rummy (a card game) during the ride.

Many times in England. I wish there was something similar in Texas. I love the fast ones, like the Scotsman Express that took me from Leeds to NewCastle in less than an hour. I like the small electric trains that go to spokes on a wheel from a city centre, taking me to my new home.

I have traveled on the Commuter rail here in the city. I went from Boston to Leominster. Other than that, I have traveled on the local subway...
I have not traveled on an Amtrak or anything like that yet.

Yes, several times from Rochester to New York City, NY; and New York City to Washington, DC, several times. It was tolerable, but really too slow a means of travel for me.
