I am a high school student and I might be going to Ghana next year through an exchange program. I've heard that the people are very friendly and the weather is generally quite hot. I would like to know what to expect, but I'm sure I'll love it there since I've always wanted to be in a country of spiritual,kind people.

Forget about civil strife and kidnappings. That's not in Ghana. People there are indeed friendly - but it doesn't mean that you should be gullible and flaunt your money. However your situation is, you'll be much richer than most people you will meet there so don't tempt fate.
But - apart from that you should be prepared for some rustic adventure - I'd check out the quality of the high school if I was you.

Biting insects, airborne and waterborne diseases, poisonous snakes, civil strife that may manifest itself by some of the following: genocide, beheadings, kidnapping for ransom, kidnapping for political gain, kidnapping for rape and one of the foregoing, murderous marauding bands, shortages of food, clean water, sanitary facilities. The most spiritual people have already met God or will do so soon. Don't expect a jubilant reception from folks who know that, where you come from, you stick a piece of plastic into a wall and it spits money at you.

Everyone over there does not as trusting as you have been
overhere. Like overhere, they don't like a lot of "K's".
Go to your doctor and get your "shots."
