If it is a through-and-through hole then you'll have to get it replaced.
However, depending on the size of the chip/hole, usually smaller than a quarter, it can be fixed by a w/s repair person. In our state, SOME insurances (policy dependent) will waive the deductible for a Repair, but not for a whole replacement.
My suggestion--do not try to fix it yourself--put scotch tape over it to keep it clean so that it will be a clearer repair in the end you shouldn't be able to see it. If it gets moisture or dirt in it you'll still have some black that you'll be able to see.

They do make kits to repair windshields. Also it would depend how big the hole is and does your windshield look like a spider web. Should be able to find at auto parts stores.

Take it to a glass repair place. They have the ability to repair small holes. I know in my state, there is no deductible for windshield glass, so the insurance will pick up the whole thing for a new windshield. good luck.

Depends on how big & where the hole is. Call a winshield repair place and get an estamate.
