There is that, and also his buddies with interests in Haliburton and such are getting richer every day the war continues.

A number of commentators have said that Bush is "running out the clock" so that another (probably Democratic) administration gets saddled with the Iraq mess. I believe that this is a factor, as well as Bush's misguided faith that history will vindicate him.
As for the "War on Terror"', this is nothing more than a clever strategy for putting America on a permanent war footing, allowing the Bush administration to justify anything it does by making the claim that America is at war. As you point out, the "War on Terror" is a battle that will never end.

the u . s . troops would be leaving Iraq beginning "now". The conflict in Iraq replaced right into a mistake. the subsequent end would be Afghanistan yet we will not win there. All will finally end up like Vietnam.

Bush is dumb as a stump - he does not know right from wrong...He listens to his axis of evil - "Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and his Daddy - and does what he is told...
So he will never pull the troops because Dick Cheney, Karl Rove nor his Daddy will ever admit thay are wrong...Plus, Cheney and Bush have too many capitalistic interests in the region to ever leave willingly..

i agree completely. if he were to pull out he would be admitting that he sent us into a situation that we shouldn't have been in and caused a lot of people to die and nothing good came out of it. he's hoping that if we stay a little longer something will happen that makes it look like it was a decent idea to go in. that is not going to happen. nothing good will come of this and there is no way that he can save face.

I partially agree........ but Bush was not wrong in what he did: his bad intentions were there since the very beginning, so it's not like "he made a mistake" and now he doesn't want to admit it...... he KNEW what he was doing: lying to the american people to justify this war and get his rich friends pursue their economic interests.... so it really wasn't a "bad call" that he can't back out from now out of pride. It was what he actually intended.....

He can't pull the troops because his big oil masters aren't done achieving control of Iraq's oil yet.

the war on terror is a never ending war....
think about it....bush and freinds ( corporations, special interest) make lots of money from war....
1- they make money by selling arms
2- they make money by stealing the iraqis people oil
3- they make money by lending money to all sides
4- they fund terrorist groups and radical muslims as to have an excuse to keep the war going...
president bush will never admit anything......hes a ****** peace of ****...you can see it by looking at him closely...

It gets him what he wants -- an emotional trigger button to justify any action he takes.
Of course he doesn't want the war on terror to end.
