You got about a lifetime? I'll give you the short of the long...
The first apartment...I didn't pay the last month's rent because I was fed up of this stupid @$$ slumlord not doing what he was supposed to do. I had been washing dishes in the tub for 2 months. Every time the heat turned on, there was this noxious odor-like things were dying in the furnace. I kept my apartment clean. I swept and mopped every damn DAY, and yet there were still roaches coming in from the slack @$$ family who lived downstairs. Of course, I was calling and calling, leaving message after message. My daughter was just an infant at the time. I called the NET office(kind of a neighborhood improvement project... my @$$), and they didn't do jack about it. I got evicted for non-payment. That mutha flucka gave me a thirty day notice that my stuff would still be in the apartment. By the time the movers got their the next day, the lock was already changed, and that nasty @$$ family and some of the other tenants were GOING THROUGH MY SH*T WHILE THE LANDLORD WAS THERE. They broke my daughter's brand new crib. Her stroller that my man(her daddy and my son's daddy, too) got her-BRAND NEW-gone. Just gone. Movies, cds, CLOTHING, tape deck, amplifier... GONE. THAT MUTHA FLUCKA had the nerve to have me served with papers just two months ago talkin about he wants that last month's rent... Me and my daughter and my man were EFFING HOMELESS for almost 3 months... My daughter and I stayed in a shelter while my man stayed at various friends' and relatives' homes, while we looked for somewhere else to live.
That's the WORST one.
My second apartment-a slight rodent problem and the furnace wasn't up to code, but otherwise, okay. The third one, same landlord that owned my second apt-but different place, RATS. OMG. I love animals, and don't mind authorized PET rats, but when the eat through the molding, and come in through the bathroom floor, and eat my soap and sh*t in my kitchen, and get bold and come out when I am trying to give my baby girl a bath... OH F*CK no. Not to mention, my guy and I were going through a rocky time, and he wasn't living with me but still expecting me to play wifey when my last name is the same as my parents', still... Something happened that p*ssed me off, and while he was out, my mother moved me and my daughter-ALLLLL the stuff that was there including his little bit of stuff that he left there-into her(well, my parents') home. He wasn't happy, but oh, well. I could keep going, but I've been living in my parents' home with my daughter since summer of 2004. OBVIOUSLY, we worked on things, because we're still a couple, even though he lives with his twin sister and her family, and we have an 18 month old son.
Hope I entertained ya!

For fourth of July a long time ago we were setting fire crackers off, the edge of my balcony. On of the sparks flew back in to the box, and the wicker table burst into flames. That sucked. I couldn't decided whether I wanted to dive over the second floor, or make a run through the flames inside.
In another apartment we would sit at night watching a movie, and it sounded like the neighbors upstairs were bowling with their refrigerator, and other appliances. Turned out they had some huge mastiff locked up there that got his exercise by running up and down the hall at night. It would shake my ceiling fans!

I experienced these things at Silver Lake in Fresno, CA.
Unit was vacant over a month being refurbished before move in. The air conditioner and heater were not functional until 3 weeks after move in. You could see your breath in the apartment. The cooling and heating were running together any time either of them tried to start.
The roof over a huge closet full of my stuff leaked and caused a 2 square foot piece of ceiling to fall in. Management did not pay for any damages to my property. Whole unit smelled of nasty mold for weeks. Had to baby sit repair workers for several days.
Loud music with thumping bass played at all hours of the day and night with little or no action by management. My wife was pregnant and could not sleep because of the gangster rap being blasted.
Management using their keys to come in illegally.
Management scheduled repair work and we stayed home all day waiting for the repair man. He never showed up. They gave him keys and let him in while we were gone the next day and let him do whatever he wanted in my unit unsupervised. No notice was left that the unit had been entered.
Management purposefully mis-calculated my 6 month lease ending date (7.5 months) knowing that I was building a house.
Management decided to sell the property and notified me at 5:30pm that they would be showing my unit to strangers (investors?) at 9:30am the next morning. I posted California law on the door with a note that anyone entering my unit would be sued. To my amazement they did not enter that time.
Management illegally kept my deposit. They illegally charged for cleaning the carpets (that they did not clean)with no receipt (only sent me a copy of a flier with standard rates for some company). They illegally charged for painting walls that were left in the exact same condition as when I moved in.

Listening to the people upstairs run around barefoot, giggling, obviously having sex (could hear the bed and other things ), and then taking a shower....
Upstairs people hammering things onto their walls at 3am.
Fights out in the parking lot where a guy slapped this girl and when her kid attacked the guy, the guy shoved him to the ground... the kid didn't get up. That was the worst.

I used to live above this girl, and EVERY SINGLE MORNING at precisely 5 am she would blare that stupid country song with the lyrics, "I love little baby ducks, walks in the park, kisses after dark," or something along that line. Don't even know who sings it. It annoyed the hell out of me for a year and a half.

acquaintances & I lived downstairs from some dance majors as quickly as we've been in college, it replaced into continuously horribly noisy, so...while finals have been completed for us we chop up, leaving the radio tuned somewhat off frequency to an over modulating Mexican radio station that featured a good number of screaming classified ads in echo chambers and extremely undesirable music, and extremely, very loud...and we locked the door and went away.

Lived upstairs in a two family. A burgler broke into my landlord's apartment downstairs, found my apartment key in an ashtray and came up, unlocked my door and robbed me blind....money, jewelry, stereo system, coins...

The only thing I hated about living in an apt. was having someone live above me. I could hear them everytime they walked and anytime their kids would run around and play....but that was enough for me go and find a house to live in.

Our car got stolen twice. They wrecked it the first time and then took it again and got caught when a cop stopped them for having a broken light. Idiots.
They never paid restitution either.
