All of you are forgetting CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) they designed the WWW (World Wide Web), without which you would not have Yahoo. Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau designed the WWW in 1990. They both have many awards for it.

The earliest version or concept of the internet came from a government project that wanted to see how their supercomputers could interact with each other over a networking system. When computers were becoming popular, many companies started ISP's (internet service providers) based on this technology. It then caught on when many computers were made "internet ready" during the 90s, making the internet more accessible and practical than ever. I hope that helps.
Good luck!

Definitely Al Gore. Before he brought about awareness of global warming, he was busy in a basement inventing the internet.

The real founder was probably Alexander Graham Bell.
Without the ability for two persons to communicate over wire, there's no way we'd have been able to figure out how to get machines to do it.
