Water changes are your best bet. The ammonia remover only converts the ammonia to a slightly less toxic form of ammonia, the problem is it is still there and if a couple of other water parameters are ideal, the less toxic ammonia converts back to the more toxic ammonia very fast.

These pills really don't do much to remove ammonia, the only thing to do is vacuum the gravel, or dilute the water. The tank should be able to go weeks without a gravel vacuuming (it is of course less than ideal though). The other option is to do a 10% water change 4-5 days to remove some ammonia and replace it with clean water (be sure to dechlorinate). Good luck!

Im assuming this is a freshwater aquarium?

You can use the pills to lower the ammonia. Whether they will actually work or not is a whole other question. Alot of these 'control pills' just mask the ammonia which in turn does nothing for the ammonia levels but does trick your test kit to test as no ammonia.

I would suggest doing a large water change ~50% to dillute the ammonia. If the readings are still high i would continue daily water changes until either your ammonia readings drop significanly or your cycle finishes. Make sure the water change water is as close as possible temperature wise and use a dechlorinator.

The problem with the ammonia pills is they still give you false readings when testing the water, they just change the toxic ammonia to a less toxic ammonium. If your ammonia is elevated 25% water change is your best friend. If need be do one every other day to control the ammonia. I would advise not to use the pills or liquids and stick with the water changes. that way when you test you know exactly what the ammonia levels are.
