It's really quite obvious.
The placement of US troops on holy lands in Saudi Arabia, the 1953 CIA coup toppling the democratic government of Iran for our oil interests, the on again off again diplomacy with Iran, Bin Laden, and Iraq before the Gulf War, how we claim to be fighting for democracy but instead give support to the most despotic governments such as those of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the unnecessary invasion of Iraq in 2003, the prisoner abuses at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib, and of course our continued support of Israel.

1 out of every 4 Christians in the world are Catholic. But the Catholic Church has changed over the years, just like the numbers have. Some Catholic Churches are old fashion, and some are more modern and lenient. That's why most people brake off into Protestant churches. As for the "no religion" people, some people that believe in God choose not to call it a "religion". Have you ever heard the saying "Jesus is my savior. Not my religion." It pretty much means worship God the way the bible says to, not the way man-made religious groups tell you to. As for the atheist, more people are becoming too smart, and thinking science is the key to everything.

The Quran...
Some of the moderate Islamic states "tolerated" the West but, our way of life is in direct contradiction to the teachings of Mohammad. This is why America hating Oliver Stone was denied access to Iran and told by Ahmadinejad that he was part of the great satan even though he wanted to do a positive film on Iran and probably bash America.
The funny thing is that, the radical Islamists, the extreme fundamentalists hate liberals far and above anything else and the liberals defend them!
Now before anyone rants consider this, Christians don’t care for liberals’ views because many of them contradict Christianity. This is why many liberals are agnostic or atheist.
Now, consider fundamental Muslims. To understand take the most vehement evangelical southern backwoods Christian bible thumping preacher and multiple him by say… 300 million. There, you have a fundamental Muslim.

The middle east has always been against the nations of Christianity. During the 2nd W.W., they were on the side of Germany. The Crusades of the 11, 12, & 13th centuries were foutht to win back the Holy Land so that Christians could worship at the birth place of Christ. We lost, & many Christians were killed trying to visit those places. With the establishment of Israel, with our vocal support, they turned against us totally. We were tolerated as visitors after the 2nd W.W. because Germany lost the war, they also liked our money. We, over the years, have done our best to stay out of their business but we have always offered our hand in friendship to them. Many times we have sent food, medicine & medical teams to those countries but, though they took what we gave, our people were never safe in their lands. They will never accept us but we keep trying to live in peacful ways with them. This war in Iraq has not helped our cause, they feel that we are intruders & they are correct, we are! This, now, is a holy war & a Civil matter that we should not be having any part of trying to settle for them.

The very origins come from the Medieval conflict between Christinaity and Islam and the fact that in Islam, there was no separation of church and state. But it really started with the British going in there and making countries with borders that don't confirm to local cultures after World War I and the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
These cultures already had a resentment toward us and we made it worse by messing up their lands.
Iran, especially, has reason to hate us. We overthrew their first democratically elected president (Mossadegh) in 1953 cause he wanted a fair deal on oil trade, and we gave them a dictator.

The "Islamic hostility" is directed to anyone who is not of the Islamic faith. Non-believers are given three choices: (1) convert, (2) submit, or (3) die. Since 711 A.D., and more or less to the present day, Islam has been engaged in an unrelenting attack on Western civilization, of which the United States is the prime modern-day example. If you examine all of the religious controversies in the world today, you will find that, in most cases, Islam is on one side of them.
