It's because of his association with Republicans and Conservatism. The Left has no problem when Time Warner buys up everything, but when Murdoch does it, everyone's afraid he's going to impose his views on all of us unsuspecting mind numbed robots.

No, R.P., " People" (??) don't hate him because he is wealthy, well not sensible people, at least. The haters are those who don't try, or have succumbed to the constant bombardment of the socialist agenda, proclaiming that the RICH should have their money taken away and redistributed, "TOO THE POOR, DESERVING PEOPLE, EXACTLY LIKE YOURSELVES" !!!!( after this answer, I have a question for the political category, I HOPE IT RIPS THE LEFTY'S A NEW ONE).

Pretty much. You can't BE rich & powerfull- without SOMEONE taking "pot shots" at you. It comes with the "Territory..." I'm SURE Murdoch is used to it after all these years...
