Rec: I always thought that 'Watts' were units of Electrical Energy !!! ??? (Conversion of the Mechanical Energy of a Generator into Electrical Energy measured in Watts (or kW, or MW).

However, You can only convert Watts into Joules per second or vice-versa 1J/s = 1 W or, 1 J = 1 W/s.
1 KWh = 3.6 Mega-Joules (MJ).
There's1000 W in a kW and 3600 seconds in an hour.

Watts = Joules / Seconds

So multiply by the number of seconds to get the number of joules.

P = E/t; where P in Watts is energy in Joules divided by t, the time the energy is running.

In general power times time is the total energy expended. This is true for horse power times time as well as other measures of power. The trick is to specify the power and the energy in compatible, consistent units.
