do you know how much I'm gonna pay for him (airplane, veterinary costs)? Where do they put him in the airplane? What paperwork do I need?

Check with your personal vet and the specific airline you will be flying for fees, but it costs betwen $100 and $200 to take the animal on the plane with you.

Check here for practical info:

Here is the United Airlines info, to get a rough idea of costs and rules, etc:

See this required Polish import form:

Travel to the European Union/EU:

All dogs and cats importing into and transiting the EU will be subject to EU regulations. Besides an anti-rabies vaccinations certificate, all dogs and cats must have an implanted microchip or clearly readable tattoo. Pets not meeting these requirements will not be permitted entry. Pets are not accepted in the cabin or as checked baggage to the United Kingdom.

You will need vet health certs & will have to have the animal's innoculations up to date. So whatever your vet charges for a visit/check up plus shots (mine would charge about $85), PLUS the required tattoo ($75) or microchip ($100) cost.

We were on a 10 hour flite from Krakow to the US 2 weeks ago and there were dogs in little handbags carried on into the passenger areas and they were treated like carry on baggage and were put under the seat in front of them at takeoff and landing.

I do not agree with this behavior. There was a lot of noise, smell and trouble. But it is allowed.

Cats may deal better physically/emotionally if carried on, rather than being put in the baggage hold. But the cat fancy article suggests the baggage hold is best. Check with your vet on this.

okay, first of all what airline are you going to use?
when you know that, go to that airline's website.
you should find information about it on that website, since i do not know what airline you are going to use, i cannot tell you the price of what you are going to pay, but i found one website.
