If the fluid came out from the front of the compressor, it may just need a shaft seal. If not, then the compressor needs to be replaced. In either case, it is best done by a professional, unless you have the tools, the vacuum pump, and the knowledge to try it your self.....

If all you need is a new compressor, about $800 with labor.
I would suggest just getting rid of the vehicle. GMs suck out loud. The worst vehicle I ever had was a 1998 Blazer. What could go wrong did go wrong. Including the A/C system. That's how I know how much it costs. Of course, that was a few years ago.

Chalk up another convert....It happened just like it is designed to. They sell those convertion kits to anyone with enough money then sit back and wait for you to come back to buy a compressor or some other parts that was screwed up in the process. My advice...take it to someone who know something about converting a/c systems from r12 to r134a. There's a lot more to it than buying a kit and squirting the stuff in through a hose.

no remember if it somewhat is a chop up unit, the Compressor and condenser are exterior and the air dealing with unit and evaporator are interior, which you would be calling the furnace which it is likewise. If the air dealing with unit is kicking on and off must be the fan motor's overload heater taking it out by way of undesirable bearings or bushings. additionally must be loose connection to the thermostat or many different places.

new compressor will be about 400 or 500, you need to check with advance store though for specific price on that, plus new belts, hoses, coolant, etc..
